The tooth is then dressed and when the tooth has settled, a filling is placed within the root of the tooth. On the tooth, a temporary filling is also placed. When the root canal is complete, the tooth is more brittle and might darken over time caused by the lack of vitality of the tooth. To protect the tooth and improve the colour of the tooth, often a crown is suggested to prevent future fracture of the tooth.
