Dentures

Dentures are essentially prosthetic teeth. Dentures are usually supported by teeth and soft tissues. This can be a full tissue supported denture with artificial teeth or a partial denture where your teeth and soft tissues are supported partially. There are 2 available dentures. An acrylic (plastic) denture or metal denture. For an intermediate course of action, acrylic dentures are used before teeth replacement. It can also be used as a permanent course of action for teeth replacement. Acrylic denture can cause the surrounding teeth to be trap with food which can potentially create decay if cleanliness of the teeth is not maintained. Metal dentures are normally less bulky than their acrylic counterparts. However, metal dentures are more complicated to adjust or modify when desired. Dentures need to be replaced in five to eight years. The reason for this is due to the bone becoming smaller in the area. Which can cause the denture to be loose and uncomfortable.
